About jade-fern

A dedicated training center where working professionals teach the skills that matter in modern content creation.

Our Story

jade-fern began in 2018 when three video production veterans recognized a gap in the local education landscape. While universities offered broad media degrees and online platforms provided isolated tutorials, no one was teaching the integrated workflow that professionals actually use.

We opened our first classroom in a converted warehouse space on Wellington Street with twelve students and a clear mission: teach practical skills through real projects, with instructors who still work in the field they teach.

Six years later, we have trained over two thousand students, expanded to six classrooms, and maintained our founding principle. Every instructor at jade-fern continues to take on professional projects alongside their teaching responsibilities. This keeps our curriculum grounded in current industry practices rather than outdated theory.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Three principles guide every course we design

Learn By Doing

Lectures occupy less than thirty percent of class time. The majority is spent working on projects with instructor guidance. You leave each session with tangible progress on your portfolio, not just notes to review later.

Industry Currency

Software updates constantly. Client expectations evolve. Our instructors bring insights from their current professional work directly into the classroom, ensuring you learn techniques that matter now, not five years ago.

Personalized Attention

We cap classes at twelve students. This allows instructors to provide meaningful feedback on your specific work, address your individual questions, and adapt pacing when needed. You are not anonymous here.
